This is an excerpt of the 30 minute speech supporting the Republican presidential nominee Barry Goldwater. Reagan speaks of big government, high taxation, and the “war on poverty.” He addresses foreign policy issues including the risk of appeasement, “peace through strength,” and the Vietnam War. The speech establishes Reagan as an important figure in the conservative wing of the Republican party. To a significant degree, Ronald Reagan’s election to the presidency stems from this speech, given on national television on behalf of, and sponsored by, Barry Goldwater’s 1964 presidential campaign. The speech remains amazingly fresh as a statement of modern American conservative philosophy four decades after it was delivered. Here is a link to the full transcript: www.reaganlibrary.com

Wednesday, Bachmann repeated the claim on CNN’s “Anderson Cooper 360.” “Within a day or so the president of the United States will be taking a trip over to India that is expected to cost the taxpayers $ 200 million a day,” Bachmann told Cooper. “He’s taking 2,000 people with him. He’ll be renting out over 870 rooms in India. And these are five-star hotel rooms at the Taj Mahal Palace hotel. This is the kind of over-the-top spending. It’s a very small example, Anderson (a very well prepared PUNCH,enjoy America)

Question: is the so called repub “tea party” nothing but waste of time?
Obama and his supporters don’t give a crap how they march in DC with tea bags hanging from their heads.
2 million marched, but 62 million voted for Obama. the march hardly means anything. i remember in 2003 before the iraq war, hundreds of thousands anti-war people protested, but Bush/Cheney didn’t care and invaded iraq anyway. So why should Obama care about the march?

Answer by vote_usa_first
There was 2,000,000 to 3,000,000 people marching. The largest in history.
It was only about 1/3 republicans & beck supporters. The rest were true conservatives and true libertarians and true liberals.
People care about FREEDOM AND LIBERTY – it transcends party lines.
Question: Looking for title of a book about time travel.?
This was a book I read when I was in about 4th or 5th grade. Was about a brother and sister who go back in time while looking at an old photo. I remember there was a character in the past that was shocked when they said Ronald Reagan “the Actor” was president. I’ve googled that and other excerpts from my mind. But nothing relevant came up. Has been bugging me for years. Please help!

Funny I don’t remember hearing that line anywhere except in a Back to the Future film. I don’t remember which one but that is where I remember it from and as far as brother and sister go I remember a film with Reese Witherspoon and Tobey Maguire called Pleasantville, maybe that was based on your book, going back in time after looking at something. Hope this helps.
